The exclusion in the title

Only NVMe. No SATA. It is written in the product name, before any bullet.

That is a decision worth respecting. M.2 SATA and M.2 NVMe drives share a shape and differ in a notch, and the commonest wrong purchase in this whole family is an enclosure that will not read the drive somebody already owns.

Most listings bury the answer in a compatibility bullet if they answer it at all. This one puts it where it cannot be missed, and the first bullet then repeats it with an instruction attached: check the interface before use.

One enclosure on this shelf is the opposite — SATA only, no NVMe — and between them they cover the two halves of a distinction the format itself hides.

The adapter in the box

The second bullet includes a Type-A adapter for older systems, and that is a small, practical inclusion.

A Type-C-only enclosure is an enclosure that works with the newer machine in the house and not the older one. An adapter turns it into something that plugs into both, and it is the accessory people discover they need after the parcel arrives.

What it does not do is make an old port quick. A USB 3.0 Type-A socket is a five-gigabit link; the 10 Gbps in the title describes what the enclosure can do rather than what that connection will produce. The slowest part decides, and on an older machine the adapter is where the chain narrows.

A heatsink without a pad

The fourth bullet describes the thermal arrangement as an aluminium heatsink combined with an ABS housing.

Heatsink and housing are named. The layer between the drive and the heatsink is not.

That layer is the thermal pad, and its job is to fill the small air gap between the controller and the metal, because air conducts heat badly and a millimetre of it is enough to make a heatsink ornamental. Two of the six enclosures on this shelf name a pad specifically. This page names the metal and stops.

For a drive that is written to in bursts it will make little difference. For one carrying a sustained copy of several hundred gigabytes it is exactly the difference between full speed and a drive throttling itself.

Eight terabytes, and no cable

The capacity ceiling is 8 TB, which is the joint highest on this shelf and twice what two of the other listings state.

And no data cable is named anywhere on the page. The adapter is listed; the lead it adapts is not. On a page this specific about what will and will not fit inside the case, that omission stands out.

Before ordering

Check the drive says NVMe or PCIe, since this enclosure has told you plainly that SATA will not work. Ask what lead is supplied. And if the drive is a fast one being used for long copies, ask whether a thermal pad is fitted — the heatsink is named and the pad is not.
