The best UPS batteries for 2026

A replacement battery is a fitting exercise, and it is settled by numbers printed on the cell rather than by the name of the machine it goes into. The first is the cell or cartridge reference: sealed lead-acid cells are described by a code combining voltage and amp-hours with a case size, and the UPS maker also publishes a cartridge reference for the assembled pack it sells. Matching either one is the safe route through. The second is the terminal, and this is where a cell that fits the tray still fails to fit the machine: faston tabs come in more than one width, and some packs use bolted terminals instead. The third is the case size in millimetres, because the tray is moulded and a cell a few millimetres taller does not go in however hard it is pressed. Read then how many cells the unit takes and whether they are wired in series or in parallel, since replacing one of a set with a cell of a different age or a different rating is not how these are intended to be used, and the UPS maker's instructions govern the operation from start to finish. Some packs arrive assembled with the interconnect fitted and the tabs insulated; others are loose cells. A stated design life is a manufacturer specification quoted under stated conditions, and it is neither the warranty nor a prediction about one battery. Transport and disposal of lead-acid cells follow rules the seller states. We compare cell reference and cartridge reference, voltage and amp-hour rating, terminal type and width, case dimensions, cells per pack, assembled or loose supply and stated design life.

The ones worth keeping in the drawer

  1. EMOS B9674 sealed lead-acid AGM battery of 12 V and 7.2 Ah with Faston terminals

    EMOS B9674 AGM cell, 12 V, 7.2 Ah, Faston 6.3 mm tabs, 151 × 65 × 94 mm

The one cell on this shelf whose title carries every figure a fitting decision needs: voltage, amp-hours, tab type, tab width in millimetres and all three case dimensions.

    Cell reference
B9674 — stated in the first bullet in brackets, as EMOS B9674. It is the maker’s own code for the cell rather than a code belonging to any UPS
    Cartridge reference
Not published on the listing — no UPS maker’s cartridge code appears, and no machine is named that the cell is sold as a replacement for. The title names the applications instead: UPS units, alarm systems
    Voltage rating
12 V — stated in the title and in the second bullet. It is one of two figures on this page that must match what comes out of the machine, and the amp-hour figure is the other
    Amp-hour rating
7.2 Ah — stated in the title and in the second bullet. The listing publishes no watt-hour product, and this page does not calculate one from the two figures printed here
    Terminal type
Faston tabs — stated in the title. It is one of two listings on this shelf that names a terminal type at all
    Terminal width
6.3 mm — stated in the title as a Faston 6.3 mm connection. No other listing on this shelf publishes a tab width in millimetres, and it is the figure that decides whether a cell of the right rating actually connects
    Case dimensions
151 × 65 × 94 mm — stated in the title and again in the second bullet, which calls the format compact and suitable for a wide range of applications
    Cells per pack
One — the title, the bullets and the contents all describe a single 12 V block. No pack count and no series or parallel arrangement is published
    Assembled or loose supply
Loose — a single cell with no interconnect and no insulated tabs described. The first bullet adds that the AGM construction is leak-proof and that the cell can be used in any orientation
    Stated design life
Up to 5 years — stated in the fourth bullet, alongside integrated safety systems and an instruction to charge the cell fully before first use. A design life is a manufacturer specification under stated conditions and is neither a warranty nor a prediction about one battery
    Amazon reference
B01N2HLTS0 (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    8592920004449
    • Publishes the tab width in millimetres, which no other cell here does
    • All three case dimensions in the title, so the tray can be measured before ordering
    • No cartridge reference, so it cannot be matched to a UPS by the machine’s own part code

Best for: A machine whose old cell has been taken out and measured, where voltage, amp-hours, case size and tab width can all be compared against a listing that publishes every one of them.

  2. Voltrana replacement UPS battery of 12 V and 7.2 Ah in a black sealed case

    voltrana Replacement cell for Eaton Ellipse PRO 650 DIN, 68760SP named, 1 × 12 V 7.2 Ah

Everything published about this cell is in its title: a machine name, a code whose role is unstated, and two electrical figures. The feature list underneath contains a single word.

    Cell reference
Not published on the listing — no code describing the cell itself appears. The record carries no manufacturer reference either, so this page publishes none
    Cartridge reference
68760SP is printed in the title, directly after the machine name Eaton Ellipse PRO 650 DIN. The listing does not say whether that code identifies the UPS, the battery cartridge Eaton sells for it, or the seller’s own line, and this page does not assign it a role it has not been given
    Voltage rating
12 V — stated twice in the title, once on its own and once inside the phrase 1 × 12 V 7.2 Ah
    Amp-hour rating
7.2 Ah — stated in the title. No watt-hour figure is published and none is calculated here
    Terminal type
Not published on the listing — no Faston tab, no bolted terminal and no designation of any kind appears. On a cell sold as a fitting part, this is the line that decides whether the connector from the machine goes on it
    Terminal width
Not published on the listing — no millimetre figure is given, which follows from the terminal type being absent
    Case dimensions
Not published on the listing — no length, width or height appears anywhere. Three cells on this shelf publish all three, and the tray in a UPS is a moulding that does not stretch
    Cells per pack
One — stated in the title as 1 × 12 V 7.2 Ah, which names the count and the rating of the single cell supplied
    Assembled or loose supply
Not published on the listing — nothing describes whether the cell arrives with an interconnect fitted or with its tabs insulated. The single cell count in the title is as close as the page comes to the question
    Stated design life
Not published on the listing — no period and no condition is given
    Amazon reference
B0H4RF7G6N (same reference on 1 Amazon marketplace)
    EAN
    4262498488371
    • States the count and the rating together, as 1 × 12 V 7.2 Ah, which removes one common ambiguity
    • Names the target machine in the title rather than leaving compatibility to a search
    • The feature list is one word long and carries no specification at all

Best for: Somebody who already has the Eaton machine named in the title open in front of them and can verify the fit physically, rather than from this page.

  3. Fiamm sealed lead-acid replacement battery of 12 V for an APC Back-UPS

    Fiamm Replacement cell for APC Back-UPS ES 700, 12 V, 7200 mAh / 86.4 Wh, 151 × 65 × 94 mm

One of two cells on this shelf whose maker publishes the watt-hour figure itself, and the only one that gives its capacity in milliamp-hours rather than amp-hours.

    Cell reference
Not published on the listing — no code describing the cell type, its case format or its rating appears in the bullets. The record carries the maker’s order reference, which is what the model field above holds
    Cartridge reference
Not published on the listing — no APC cartridge code such as the RBC family appears. The machine is named instead, as the APC Back-UPS ES 700, in the title
    Voltage rating
12 V — stated in the title and in the third bullet
    Amp-hour rating
7200 mAh — stated in the third bullet, in milliamp-hours rather than in amp-hours, with 86.4 Wh given immediately beside it. Both figures are the maker’s and both are reported here in the units the maker printed them in. The watt-hour figure is published rather than derived, which is why it appears at all
    Terminal type
Not published on the listing — no Faston tab, no bolted post and no designation is named in any of the five bullets
    Terminal width
Not published on the listing — no millimetre figure appears for the tabs. One cell on this shelf publishes a width and the other five do not
    Case dimensions
151 mm × 65 mm × 94 mm — stated in the fourth bullet. Three cells in this hub carry exactly these three numbers, which is the standard footprint for a sealed cell of this rating
    Cells per pack
Not published on the listing — no count and no series or parallel arrangement appears. The bullets describe a single battery without ever saying so in a number
    Assembled or loose supply
Not published on the listing — nothing says whether an interconnect is fitted or the tabs arrive insulated. The first bullet calls it an original battery and the second calls it high-grade new stock
    Stated design life
Not published on the listing — no period and no conditions are given. The fifth bullet claims cells of the highest quality, which is a claim rather than a specification
    Amazon reference
B00F4A6FAU (same reference on 6 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4051363470807
    • Publishes a watt-hour figure itself, which four listings on this shelf never do
    • All three case dimensions, on the standard footprint for this rating
    • No terminal type and no tab width, which are the two figures that decide whether it connects

Best for: An APC Back-UPS whose old cell measures 151 by 65 by 94 and whose tabs have already been identified by eye, since this page will not identify them for you.

  4. akku-net black sealed lead-acid replacement battery of 12 V for an APC Smart-UPS

    akku-net Replacement cell for APC Smart-UPS 750, 12 V, 7.2 Ah / 86 Wh, 151 × 65 × 94 mm, 4920 g

A cell whose specification bullet reads like a data sheet — voltage, capacity, watt-hours, cell type, three dimensions, weight and colour — and which still leaves the terminals entirely undescribed.

    Cell reference
Not published on the listing — no cell code appears in the bullets. The reference carried in the record is the same string as the product barcode, and this page reports it as the record holds it rather than substituting anything else
    Cartridge reference
Not published on the listing — no APC cartridge code appears anywhere. The title names the machine instead, as the APC Smart-UPS 750
    Voltage rating
12 V — stated in the title and first in the specification bullet, which opens on voltage
    Amp-hour rating
7.2 Ah — stated in the specification bullet, with 86 Wh printed immediately beside it. Both are the maker’s figures and both are reported here as printed; the watt-hour number is published rather than derived by this page
    Terminal type
Not published on the listing — the specification bullet runs through voltage, capacity, cell quality, cell type, dimensions, weight, colour and compatibility, and never reaches the terminals
    Terminal width
Not published on the listing — no millimetre figure for the tabs appears, which follows from the terminal type being absent
    Case dimensions
151 mm × 65 mm × 94 mm — stated in the specification bullet. It is the same footprint two other cells on this shelf publish at the same rating
    Cells per pack
Not published on the listing — no count appears, and no series or parallel arrangement is described. The bullets speak throughout of a single battery
    Assembled or loose supply
Not published on the listing — nothing says whether an interconnect is fitted or the tabs arrive insulated. The fourth bullet describes the replacement as something the owner carries out, without describing what arrives
    Stated design life
Not published on the listing — no period and no condition is given. The second bullet calls the cell maintenance-free and names power supply, standby installations and security and alarm equipment as its intended uses
    Amazon reference
B00BUT4RPE (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4051363442835
    • Publishes a weight, at 4920 g, which no other cell on this shelf does
    • Puts voltage, capacity, watt-hours, cell type, dimensions, weight and colour in one readable line
    • No terminal type and no tab width anywhere in a bullet that covers everything else

Best for: An APC Smart-UPS where the tray depth and the shelf loading matter as much as the electrical rating, since this is the one listing that says what the cell weighs.

  5. Q-Batteries assembled replacement battery module for an APC Back-UPS with F2 terminals

    Q-Batteries Replacement module for APC RBC48, 12 V 7.2 Ah stated, F2 terminals, 151 × 130 × 100 mm

A ready-made module quoted against an APC cartridge code, whose case is roughly twice the width of the single cells on this shelf while its electrical figures stay identical to theirs.

    Cell reference
Not published on the listing — no code describing an individual cell appears, and the fifth bullet gives the technical data for the module as a whole
    Cartridge reference
RBC48 — stated in the title and in the first bullet, which names it as a UPS replacement battery for APC. It is one of two cartridge codes published on this shelf, and it is the route by which a UPS maker’s own paperwork can be matched
    Voltage rating
12 V — stated in the fifth bullet, in the technical data line
    Amp-hour rating
7.2 Ah — stated in the fifth bullet, beside the voltage. No watt-hour figure is published, and this page does not produce one
    Terminal type
F2 — stated in the fifth bullet as the connection type. It is one of two listings on this shelf to name a terminal at all, and the designation is given without a description of what it is
    Terminal width
Not published on the listing — F2 is a tab designation and no millimetre figure is printed against it. One cell in this hub publishes a width in millimetres, and this is not it
    Case dimensions
151 mm × 130 mm × 100 mm — stated in the fifth bullet. Three other cells on this shelf publish 151 × 65 × 94 mm at the same stated voltage and the same stated capacity, so this case is roughly twice as wide as theirs while the electrical figures are identical. The listing prints both facts and does not reconcile them
    Cells per pack
Not published on the listing — the title calls the product a ready-made battery module for replacement and no bullet says how many cells are inside it or how they are wired to each other
    Assembled or loose supply
Assembled — stated in the title as a ready-made module for exchange. It is the only listing on this shelf that says outright what state the product arrives in
    Stated design life
Not published on the listing — no period and no condition appears. The fourth bullet describes a maintenance-free sealed AGM battery, which is a construction rather than a life
    Amazon reference
B005SJNH1M (same reference on 4 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4250889626181
    • Publishes an APC cartridge code, which four listings on this shelf do not
    • States that it arrives assembled and ready to exchange, which no other listing here does
    • A case roughly twice as wide as the single cells here, with the same 12 V and 7.2 Ah beside it and no explanation

Best for: One of the three APC machines named on the page, where a ready-assembled module is worth more than a loose cell and the tray has been measured against the wider case.

  6. APC APCRBC123 sealed replacement battery cartridge in its APC packaging

APC APCRBC123 replacement battery cartridge, sealed lead, tool-free change, 1-year warranty

The most expensive product on this shelf publishes no voltage, no capacity, no terminal and no case size. Its entire specification is a part number, and for a machine maker’s own cartridge that is very nearly enough.

    Cell reference
Not published on the listing — no code for the cell or cells inside the cartridge appears, and no rating is given for them
    Cartridge reference
APCRBC123 — stated in the title, and it is the whole identity of the product. It is the maker’s own cartridge code, which is the reference APC publishes against each of its UPS models, and the fourth bullet says original RBC cartridges are checked and certified for compatibility to restore the machine’s original performance specifications
    Voltage rating
Not published on the listing — no volt figure appears in the title or in any of the five bullets. It is the only listing on this shelf that publishes no voltage
    Amp-hour rating
Not published on the listing — no amp-hour and no watt-hour figure appears anywhere. Five of the six listings in this hub publish a capacity, and this is the one that does not
    Terminal type
Not published on the listing — no tab, post or designation is named. The third bullet says the battery can be changed without tools, which describes the operation rather than the connection
    Terminal width
Not published on the listing — no millimetre figure appears, which follows from the terminal type being absent
    Case dimensions
Not published on the listing — no length, width or height is given anywhere on the page
    Cells per pack
Not published on the listing — the product is described as a cartridge and the number of cells inside it is never stated
    Assembled or loose supply
Assembled, as a cartridge — the product name says so and the fifth bullet lists the contents as the battery, a recycling manual and installation instructions. The third bullet adds that the change is possible without tools
    Stated design life
Not published on the listing — no design life and no conditions appear. What the second bullet publishes instead is a one-year repair or replacement warranty, which is a commercial term and not a statement about how long the cells are specified to last

    • The maker’s own cartridge code, which is the reference APC’s documentation is written around
    • Arrives as a cartridge with installation instructions and a recycling manual in the box
    • No voltage and no capacity anywhere, on the most expensive product here

Best for: An APC machine whose documentation names APCRBC123, where matching the maker’s own code matters more than reading a specification.
