AWG23/1, which is the whole story

The figure after the stroke is the one that decides everything downstream. AWG23/1 is one conductor per core — a solid wire — at gauge 23. Every other listing on this shelf leaves both halves unwritten, and this is the only one of the seven that names a gauge at all.

Solid conductors belong in a fixed run. They are punched down into insulation-displacement contacts, in a keystone module or on a panel, where the blades straddle a wire that does not move again. They are the wrong thing at the end of a lead that gets coiled, dragged out from behind a desk and plugged in twice a week, because a single core work-hardens where it flexes. That is not a criticism of this cable; it is a description of the job it is sold for, in the maker’s own fifth bullet.

A copper mix, named as a mix

The first bullet calls the conductors a copper compound rather than copper. That wording is unusual and it is worth reading exactly: it is neither the claim of pure copper that three cords on this shelf make, nor the copper-clad aluminium that one of them admits to. Buy this expecting to terminate it. Nothing is fitted to either end, and what goes on those ends has to accept AWG23 solid conductors — which is a line printed on the packet of a keystone module or a plug, and never on its photograph. If you were looking for a cord to run from a switch to a machine, this is not it, and one of the six made-up cords on this shelf is.
