NetVerdict is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.
What happens when you press the button
Each "Check price on Amazon" button on this site is an affiliate link. Follow one, order a switch or a solid-state drive, and Amazon pays us a share of what you spent. Your price is the price you would have paid arriving at Amazon by any other route.
Those links land on this site before they land anywhere else, and the page they reach passes you along to whichever Amazon store serves the country you are browsing from. Read this in France and the destination is amazon.fr; read it in Germany and it is amazon.de, each with the affiliate tag that store uses. The same fact explains the rel="nofollow sponsored" on every one of them: a link that can earn money is an advertisement, and search engines are told so in the markup.
Which way this leans, and what resists it
Because the commission is a share of the sale, an expensive mesh pack is worth more to us than a bag of RJ45 plugs. Three things built into the site pull the other way, and you can check each of them rather than take our word:
- No ranking here is sequenced by what a product earns, and none has ever been reshuffled because one item pays better than another. Where the honest answer is the cheapest thing on the page — or a change worth making rather than a purchase, such as wiring a node back to the router instead of letting it relay over the air — that is what the page says.
- Several of the recommendations we make most firmly cost less than a takeaway, and a number of the products covered here are not the ones we point people at first. Neither price nor commission sets the order.
- When a reference has no confirmed offer on the Amazon store of your country, the button opens a search on that store rather than a product page that may lead nowhere — worth less to us, and no different to you.
What we never do
Nothing on this site can be bought: not a slot, not a position, not a kinder paragraph. Not one page here is sponsored. And a recommendation is never quietly exchanged because a model went out of stock or because another would pay more — it cannot pay more, which is exactly the arrangement being described.
Prices
Where a live price appears here, it comes from Amazon's own price history for the market you are in and is held briefly before being fetched again. These prices change from one day to the next, so the only figure that settles anything is the one Amazon shows at the moment you place the order. A price band written into a review is a bracket, and nothing firmer.
