The best keystone modules for 2026

A keystone module is the socket a fixed cable run terminates into, and it is defined by two things that both have to agree with what surrounds them. The first is the category. A module is specified to Cat 5e, Cat 6 or Cat 6a, and a link takes the rating of its weakest component, so terminating Cat 6a cable into a Cat 6 module produces a Cat 6 link — and no photograph shows that. The second is the termination method. Punch-down modules take solid conductors into insulation-displacement contacts and want a tool; toolless modules use a lacing cap or a hinged cover that closes onto the conductors and are quicker at the top of a ladder. Both print the TIA-568A and TIA-568B colour orders on the body. Shielding is the third question and it has to run continuously from cable to module to panel to earth, or it is decoration. Then the mechanical fit: the keystone opening is a standard shape, but wall plates, panels and surface boxes differ in how much room they leave behind it, and a bulky module in a shallow back box is the reason an installation ends with a plate that will not sit flat against the wall. Angled modules exist for precisely that. Check the pack quantity and whether dust caps and labelling are included, and remember that a run terminated at both ends needs two of everything. We compare category rating, termination method, shielded or unshielded, module depth, angled or straight body, colour options, pack quantity and accessories included.

The ones worth keeping in the drawer

  1. DIGITUS Cat 6A shielded keystone module with an RJ45 socket and a plastic latch

DIGITUS Cat 6A shielded keystone jack, AWG 26/7 to 22/1, single module

The one module on this shelf sold singly rather than in fours or twelves, published with a conductor window that covers stranded and solid alike and with a certification named by the body that issued it.

    Category rating
Cat 6A, Class EA — stated in the title and in the first and third bullets, with 500 MHz and up to 10 Gbit/s quoted, on the stated condition that the cable behind it is Cat 6A or higher
    Termination method
Toolless insulation-displacement — stated in the third bullet as an installation needing no tool, for conductor cross sections between AWG 26/7 and 22/1. The fourth bullet adds that the strips are colour-coded to EIA/TIA 568 A and B
    Shielded or unshielded
Shielded — stated in the title and in the first bullet, which names a 360-degree screen around the module
    Module depth
Not published on the listing — no depth, height or length appears. The fourth bullet says instead that the module is design-compatible with common network outlets, which is a claim about the front and not about the room behind it
    Angled or straight body
Not published on the listing — nothing says which way the cable leaves the back of the module, and no exit angle is quoted
    Colour options
Not published on the listing — the only colour coding named is on the termination strips, to EIA/TIA 568 A and B, which is a wiring order rather than a choice of body finish
    Pack quantity
One — stated in the title. It is the only single-module listing on this shelf
    Accessories included
Not published on the listing — the fourth bullet describes a plastic latch on the top of the body and a GHMT certification, and names nothing supplied alongside the module

    • The conductor window covers stranded and solid at once, in a notation that says which is which
    • Sold singly, so a run that needs three modules does not mean buying four or twelve
    • No depth published, which is the dimension that decides whether a plate sits flat

Best for: A single socket being added to an existing installation, where the module has to match a plate that is already on the wall.

  2. ProfiPatch white flush-mounted network outlet with one RJ45 port and one F connector

PROFIPATCH.COM Cat 6A flush wall outlet, one RJ45 and one F connector, 40-degree exit

Not a keystone module at all but a flush-mounted wall outlet with a coaxial connector beside its RJ45 socket, and the only listing on this shelf that publishes an angle — a 40-degree exit for the cord.

    Category rating
Cat 6A, Class EA — stated in the title and the first bullet, with up to 10 Gbit/s and 500 MHz quoted. The fourth bullet names the cables it is offered for: Cat 8.1, Cat 7a, Cat 7, Cat 6a, Cat 6 and Cat 5e, plus satellite coaxial
    Termination method
Not published on the listing — the five bullets describe the housing, the mounting and the cable entry, and never say whether the conductors are punched down, clamped toolless or terminated some other way. No conductor gauge, diameter or construction appears anywhere either
    Shielded or unshielded
Fully screened — stated in the second bullet, with an aluminium die-cast housing and gold-plated contacts
    Module depth
Not published on the listing — nothing gives the depth of the body, on a product that has to sit inside a flush back box. The third bullet describes the cable entry at the top and rear instead
    Angled or straight body
Angled — a 40-degree exit is stated in the third bullet. It is the only angle published anywhere on this shelf
    Colour options
White — stated in the title. No other finish is offered on the page
    Pack quantity
Not published on the listing — the title counts one RJ45 port and one F connector, which are the sockets on a single outlet rather than a number of pieces in a packet
    Accessories included
Not published on the listing — the fifth bullet states compatibility with common switch ranges, and nothing says whether a frame, a surround or fixings arrive with it

    EAN
    4260352822002
    • Publishes an exit angle, which nothing else on this shelf does
    • Carries a coaxial F connector alongside the network socket, in one flush box
    • It is an outlet, not a keystone module, and it will not clip into a keystone panel

Best for: A flush socket position that has to carry a network lead and a satellite or aerial lead out of the same box.

  3. BIGtec Cat 6a shielded keystone module in zinc die-cast with a snap-in cover

BIGtec Cat 6a shielded keystone jack, solid AWG26/1-22/1 and stranded AWG26/7-24/7, pack of 4

The only listing in this hub that gives two conductor windows instead of one, naming a solid range for installation cable and a separate stranded range for patch cable — which is the distinction this whole shelf turns on.

    Category rating
Cat 6a, Class EA — stated in the title and in the third bullet, with 500 MHz and 10 Gbit Ethernet quoted. The title adds that it suits Cat 7 cable
    Termination method
Toolless snap-in onto an insulation-displacement strip — stated in the first and second bullets, where the cable is clamped into the module and the cover snapped shut with no tool. The fourth bullet publishes two conductor windows for it, one per construction: solid installation cable from AWG26/1 to AWG22/1, and stranded patch conductors from AWG26/7 to AWG24/7. The third bullet adds colour coding to EIA/TIA 568 A and B
    Shielded or unshielded
Shielded — stated in the title and the third bullet, in a zinc die-cast body with a 360-degree screen contact
    Module depth
Not published on the listing — no dimension of any kind appears. The fifth bullet names the destinations instead: keystone panels, keystone outlets, distribution panels, housings and mounting frames with a keystone aperture
    Angled or straight body
Not published on the listing — nothing describes the direction the cable leaves the module, and no exit angle is given
    Colour options
Not published on the listing — the only colour coding named is the EIA/TIA 568 A and B wiring order on the termination strip
    Pack quantity
Four — stated in the title
    Accessories included
Not published on the listing — the fifth bullet lists what the modules go into, all of it sold separately, and names nothing supplied in the packet

    4051687052932
    • Publishes two conductor windows, one per construction, which nothing else on this shelf does
    • Names three PoE tiers by name rather than claiming PoE support in general
    • No depth, on a module going into a back box whose depth is fixed

Best for: An installation that terminates fixed runs and made-up leads into the same kind of module, and needs both windows checked against the drum.

  4. Germany B.e.s.t Cat 7 shielded keystone module with a full metal body

    Germany B.e.s.t Cat 7 shielded keystone jack, 1000 MHz stated, PoE++ to 100 W, pack of 4

The only module here quoting a frequency above 500 MHz and the only one putting a wattage against PoE — and the one that publishes no conductor range at all, which is the line that decides what cable it will actually take.

    Category rating
Cat 7 — stated in the title and the first bullet, with up to 10 Gbit/s, and an operating frequency of up to 1000 MHz in the fifth bullet. No class designation is printed beside either figure, so neither can be checked against the class the other five modules here name
    Termination method
Toolless insulation-displacement — stated in the fourth bullet, which says no crimping and no special tool is needed and names patch panels, hollow-wall boxes and wall outlets as destinations. No conductor window accompanies it: neither a gauge nor a diameter nor a construction appears beside the strip anywhere on the page
    Shielded or unshielded
Shielded — stated in the third bullet as a full metal body with an internal STP screen, offered against electromagnetic interference
    Module depth
Not published on the listing — no dimension appears, on a module the fourth bullet offers for a hollow-wall box, which is the shallowest destination of the three it names
    Angled or straight body
Not published on the listing — nothing says which way the cable leaves the body
    Colour options
Not published on the listing — no finish is offered and no wiring colour order is named either
    Pack quantity
Four — stated in the title
    Accessories included
Not published on the listing — the fourth bullet names three destinations, all of them separate purchases, and nothing is described as supplied
    Amazon reference

    EAN
    4260443576159
    • Puts a wattage against its PoE claim rather than naming a tier alone
    • The screening is described as a full metal body with an internal screen, not just as shielded
    • No conductor range of any kind, so no cable can be checked against it before ordering

Best for: A buyer who has already confirmed with the seller which conductor gauges the strip accepts, and wants the metal body and the PoE headroom.

  5. deleyCON Cat 6a shielded keystone module in nickel-plated zinc with a snap-in body

deleyCON Cat 6a shielded keystone jack, solid AWG 22-25, aperture 19.35 × 14.8 mm, pack of 4

The one module in this hub that prints a dimension — a keystone aperture of 19.35 by 14.8 mm, which is the opening at the front and not the room behind it — and the one restricted to solid conductors alone.

    Category rating
Cat 6a — stated in the title and the first bullet, with a maximum signal transmission of 500 MHz and support for 10 Gbit Ethernet and Power over Ethernet
    Termination method
Toolless insulation-displacement, snap-in — stated in the first and second bullets as an RJ45 socket on one side and a toolless strip on the other, with the third bullet crediting the housing design with fast and secure contact without special tools. The fifth bullet gives the wire acceptance as solid conductor AWG 22 to 25, names no stranded range, and says the wiring order T568A and B is marked on the load piece itself
    Shielded or unshielded
Shielded — stated in the title and the first bullet as STP, in a nickel-plated zinc die-cast housing
    Module depth
Not published on the listing — the first bullet publishes a keystone opening of 19.35 by 14.8 mm, which is the aperture at the front. The dimension behind the plate, which is the one that decides whether a face plate sits flat, never appears
    Angled or straight body
Not published on the listing — no exit angle is given. The fifth bullet says instead that the cable can be fed in through 180 degrees, which describes the approach rather than the body
    Colour options
Not published on the listing — the only colour named is the T568A and B wiring order marked on the load piece
    Pack quantity
Four — stated in the title
    Accessories included
Not published on the listing — the fifth bullet describes the housing as one piece and reusable and says up to 24 modules fit a 1U panel of 483 mm, and nothing is named as supplied with them
    Amazon reference
B0733C66WP (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4250580136743
    • The only module on this shelf to publish a measured dimension of any kind
    • The wiring order is marked on the load piece rather than on the packaging
    • Solid conductors only, so a stranded patch lead cannot be terminated into it

Best for: A fixed run of solid installation cable being terminated into a panel or a plate, where the aperture has to be matched to an existing frame.

  6. HB-DIGITAL Cat 6a shielded keystone module with gold-plated contacts

HB-DIGITAL Cat 6a shielded keystone jack for rigid cable, AWG 22-26, pack counted as twelve and as one

The biggest pack on this shelf by its title and a single module by its first bullet, sold explicitly for rigid cable and published with a four-gauge conductor window that never says which construction it belongs to.

    Category rating
Cat 6a — stated in the title and in the first two bullets, with a performance of up to 10 Gbit/s. No frequency and no class designation appear
    Termination method
Toolless — stated in the first bullet as a quick assembly with no special tool, for a patch panel or a network outlet. The fifth bullet gives the conductor window as AWG 22 to AWG 26, without naming a construction for it. The strip type is not named and no wiring colour order is printed on the page
    Shielded or unshielded
Fully screened STP — stated in the third bullet against electromagnetic interference, with gold-plated contacts named in the fourth as protection against corrosion
    Module depth
Not published on the listing — no dimension appears anywhere in the title or the five bullets
    Angled or straight body
Not published on the listing — nothing describes the direction the cable leaves the module
    Colour options
Not published on the listing — no body finish is offered, and no wiring colour order is named either
    Pack quantity
Twelve in the title, one in the first bullet — the page carries both figures for the same product and reconciles neither. Both are reported here and neither is chosen
    Accessories included
Not published on the listing — the bullets describe the module alone and name nothing supplied alongside it
    Amazon reference
B08QMZ7W6J (same reference on 5 Amazon marketplaces)
    EAN
    4063328014285
    • The title names the cable type it is for, which no other module on this shelf does
    • Publishes a conductor window across four gauges, from AWG 22 to AWG 26
    • The pack quantity is given twice on one page, as twelve and as one

Best for: Filling a panel in one purchase, if the seller confirms which of its own two pack figures the packet actually contains.
