aiten data 19-inch 1U panel, four 12 cm ball-bearing fans, digital thermostat, 485 × 305 × 45 mm

Four twelve-centimetre fans on ball bearings, which is the only fan dimension published anywhere in this hub, with a digital stage control and every outer measurement printed.

Fan count
Four — stated in the title and in the second bullet, which describes four fans of 12 cm diameter with ball bearings
Fan size
12 cm in diameter, with ball bearings — stated in the second bullet. It is the only fan dimension published on this shelf, and the bearing type is named nowhere else either
Stated airflow
Not published on the listing — no figure appears in any bullet. The second gives the fan diameter and the bearing type instead, which describe the fans rather than what they move
Airflow unit
Not published on the listing, because no airflow figure is given for a unit to attach to
Stated noise level
Not published on the listing — no decibel figure and no measuring distance appears anywhere on the page
Roof or rack-mount format
Rack-mounted — the first bullet gives a standard width of 19 inches and a height of 1U, and the third describes side anchorages for easy fixing to rack cabinets
Rack units occupied
One — stated in the first bullet. The fifth gives the height as 45 mm, which is a rack unit
Airflow direction
Not published on the listing — nothing says which way the fans push, and nothing says whether they can be turned in their frame. None of the seven listings on this shelf publishes a direction
Thermostat or speed control
A digital display with which the stages can be controlled, and an internal temperature sensor — both stated in the second bullet. No threshold range and no number of stages is published on the listing
Power connection
220 V at 50 Hz with a European plug — stated in the second bullet. It is the only listing on this shelf to name the plug type

  • Publishes the fan diameter, 12 cm, which no other listing in this hub does
  • Names the bearing type, which is what decides how a fan ages
  • No airflow figure and no noise level, on a panel with four fans of a stated size

Best for: A 19-inch rack where the fan size matters for replacement later, and the buyer can spare a rack unit for the panel.

On the listing

A digital four-fan thermostat unit of standard 19-inch width and 1U height, in black; a digital display with which the stages can be controlled, an electrical connection of 220 V at 50 Hz with a European plug, an internal temperature sensor and four fans of 12 cm diameter with ball bearings; a construction in cold-rolled steel finished with a black rust and powder coating, with side anchorages for easy fixing to rack cabinets; a width of 485 mm and a depth of 305 mm; and a height of 45 mm at a weight printed as 5,055 g.

Twelve centimetres

Seven cooling units in this hub. One of them says how big its fans are.

That sounds like a footnote and it is closer to the specification. Fan size decides two things that matter more than the marketing on any of these pages.

The first is noise. A large fan turning slowly moves the same volume of air as a small fan turning fast, and makes considerably less noise doing it. This panel publishes no decibel figure, and 12 cm is nonetheless an argument about how it will sound.

The second is what happens in four years. A 120 mm fan is a commodity — they are sold everywhere, in every quality, at every noise rating. A panel whose fan size is known is a panel that can be repaired or quietened; a panel whose fan size is a mystery is a panel that gets replaced whole.

One cabinet on the cabinets hub of this site names the same 120 mm size as the aperture in its own roof, which is a measure of how standard the figure is.

Ball bearings

The same bullet names the bearing type, and again nothing else in this hub does.

A rack fan runs continuously, horizontally, in warm air, for years. The bearing is the part that determines whether it is still quiet at the end of that period or has become the hum that everybody in the office has stopped noticing and nobody has fixed.

Naming it is a small signal about who wrote the page. This is a listing describing an object rather than a benefit.

Everything measured except the air

The fourth and fifth bullets give 485 mm wide, 305 mm deep, 45 mm high. The second gives the voltage, the frequency and the plug type — the only plug named anywhere on this shelf.

What is not there is any figure for what the four fans actually move. No airflow. No noise level. Two listings on this shelf publish an airflow and two publish a decibel range, and this is not one of either pair.

So the page describes the machine in detail and its output not at all, which is the opposite of the usual failure on this shelf and no more satisfying.

A weight that needs reading carefully

The fifth bullet gives the weight as 5,055 g.

That comma may be a decimal separator, in which case it would be about five grams — absurd for a steel panel carrying four fans — or a thousands separator in the English style, in which case it is 5055 g, a little over five kilograms. This site prints the figure as the listing prints it rather than converting it into whichever reading looks tidier.

Only the second reading fits the object, and a little over five kilograms is a heavy panel for one rack unit — precisely what four 12 cm fans in a steel frame ought to weigh.

The German offer that was not there

At the time of the survey this product had no offer on the German store, and the price sits in the specification of other markets instead.

That is why it appears last in this hub rather than because it is the dearest: the ordering here follows the German price, and this listing did not have one to be ordered by. The prices that exist are worth comparing across markets before buying, and the availability section below gives what was found.

Before ordering

Ask for an airflow figure, because a fan diameter is not one. Check the 305 mm depth against the cabinet rails. And note the plug: 220 V with a European plug is stated, which is the only power detail this thorough anywhere on this shelf.
