A one-terabyte portable drive that publishes an ingress code, both sequential figures and a five-year term, and that never names the interface generation the socket has to meet.

A shape is not a standard
The title names a connector and never a generation. The same symmetrical shape carries several of them, and they are far apart: one tops out well below the figures printed here, and others sit comfortably above. The computer end negotiates whichever both sides support. A buyer with two laptops cannot tell from this page which of them produces a thousand megabytes per second and which does not.
IP65, and what it does not cover
The rating is published, which is better than the adjectives most rivals here use. Its two digits describe dust and water on published scales, so it can be compared with another code directly. Being dropped is a separate matter with its own test, and no drop height appears on this page — the fourth bullet lists shock and vibration in the same breath as the code, and they are not part of it.
No lead in the box
The box list names the drive, the colour and the warranty. It counts no cable. On a drive whose third bullet is about plugging into telephones, that is the line most likely to produce a second purchase, and a portable drive is only as quick as the lead it is reached through.

The questions that come up before an order
What does an ingress code actually cover?
Two things, in order: solid objects and liquid. The first digit describes dust and the second describes water, each on a published scale, and the code is only meaningful because both scales are defined by a standard rather than by the maker. It says nothing about being dropped, which is a separate rating with its own test. This page publishes the ingress code and no drop height.
Why does a missing interface generation matter when the rates are published?
Because the rates are only reachable through a socket that meets the right standard. The same connector shape carries several generations, from one that tops out well below these figures to ones far above them, and the computer end decides which is negotiated. Without the generation named, a buyer cannot tell which of their own sockets will produce the number on the box.
