Five years, and the total that would bound them
The sixth bullet is the most valuable line on this page. It names a party, a length and a limitation, which is more than most listings here manage. What normally ends a five-year drive warranty before five years?
A written total. Most solid-state warranties run to a period or to a stated number of terabytes written, whichever arrives first, which is why the two figures are usually printed together. This page gives the period and not the total, so the point at which the term could end early cannot be read from it at all.
Does a wide gap between the read and write figures matter?
It tells you which direction the drive was built around. Reading is easier than writing on this kind of memory, and a drive whose write figure sits two thousand below its read figure will feel quick to load and slower to receive a large copy.
