INTELLINET tests more than network leads

By

One INTELLINET tool here

The 780094 continuity tester.

What it covers

RJ45 and RJ11, USB A and B, six-pin FireWire and coaxial — the widest set of connectors on the cable tester shelf. It shows a light for each of the eight conductors and for the shield, names three faults, and comes with a carrying case and a coaxial adapter.

What it leaves out

No remote unit is listed in the contents, which matters on a tester: without a remote, both ends of a cable have to reach the same box, which rules out testing a run already pulled through a wall. That is the question to settle with the seller before buying it for installed wiring rather than patch leads.

Against the other testers here

The deleyCON MK5196 is the two-piece alternative, with a remote for wiring in walls but network and telephone connectors only. The NOYAFA NF-8508 adds a length reading and a rechargeable battery. The 780094 is the one for a drawer of mixed leads.
