The listing names four Ethernet standards — 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3az — and then asks for Category 6 cable if the full gigabit is to be had. It states that the adapter needs no driver on three operating systems, and gives an 18-month warranty, which is rare on a shelf where the term is usually left to the seller.

What it leaves out

The chip inside is not named, so the driver situation on an older or less common system has to be taken on trust. For a laptop that only needs a wired gigabit link, the page answers the questions that matter: the plug, the standard, the cable and the term.
