Two rack units, with the rails in the box, stated in the fifth bullet. Of the seven units on this shelf it is the only one: everything else here stands on a desk, hides under one, or hangs on a wall. For a cabinet that already holds a switch and a network drive, a UPS that bolts in at the bottom is a different proposition from one that sits on the floor beside it — and netverdict’s own cabinet shelf exists for exactly that cabinet.
The first bullet gives 1500 VA and 900 W with a pure sine wave — a ratio of 0.60, and the waveform named plainly rather than left out, as it is on the three Back-UPS listings in this group. The second publishes what nothing else here publishes: the input plug as well as the outputs. NEMA 5-15P in, six NEMA 5-15R out. On a rackmount unit that matters, because the lead has to reach a socket that may be in a different cabinet, and a designation is checkable where “six outlets” is not.
The fourth bullet gives APC SmartConnect: remote monitoring through a secure portal, with automatic notifications, firmware updates and advanced support services. Two units on this shelf offer monitoring over a network, this one and the Tripp Lite BC850RNC. Firmware updates delivered to a UPS without a cable is the part that distinguishes this from the Eaton unit’s email alerts.
And it is where the page contradicts itself. The same fourth bullet states that for units purchased or registered after 1 August 2023, SmartConnect “will be offered as a 6-month free trial”. The description states that the included cloud monitoring is “service-free, no fees required during the warranty period” — and the warranty, per the sixth bullet, is two years. Six months or two years; the page gives both and settles neither, and this is the most expensive unit on the shelf by a factor of nearly four.
The warranty itself is published in a form nothing else here uses. Two years repair or replace, excluding the battery; two years for the battery separately; and the seventh bullet adds a further year of battery warranty if the unit is connected and registered with the SmartConnect application. Three terms, one of them earned by registering. A $150,000 connected equipment protection policy is the largest cover figure on this shelf.
The third bullet gives automatic voltage regulation adjusting high and low voltages to a safe level — without the window the two other line-interactive units on this shelf publish. The description adds an automatic green mode for efficiency, and intelligent battery management with temperature-compensated charging, which is the arrangement that stops a battery cooking itself in a warm cabinet.
No runtime at any named load appears anywhere, which on a 900 W unit is the figure a buyer sizing a cabinet needs most. No battery type, no capacity, and no replacement part number — where four cheaper units in this group name their cartridge. At 25,300 g (892.4 oz) this is nearly three times the weight of anything else here, and at $820.99 it is four times the price of the next.
